Gardener

If you've ever thought about a career in gardening, if you love to be outside and you think you've got what it takes, please read on.

GARDENER:

GardenUp Landscape is looking for reliable and hard working gardening assistants for the upcoming season! If you understand and value the benefits of working in the dirt we welcome your application! Our season begins mid-March and wraps up around Thanksgiving. We are not a typical "landscaping" company, we are a gardening company. We exist to beautify our communities by educating people and caring for plants and land. Our work ranges from simple gardening maintenance (weeding, deadheading, pruning, raking, fertilizing) to fairly large-scale projects (new bed installation, shrub removal, SpokaneScapes).

SCHEDULE:

10-20+ hrs/week. Our work week is Monday-Friday, and workdays can vary in length, typically from 5-8 hours. We are looking for employees who are available to work a minimum of two full days per week. At the beginning of the season, we will work together to create a set schedule that works for you. Because our schedule is heavily influenced by weather and client needs, we ask that you be available as early as 6am (on hot summer days) and as late as 5pm.

The type of work I have ranges from the following garden maintenance tasks:
• Weeding
• Planting
• Deadheading
• Raking
• Fertilizing
• Rose pruning
• Spring & fall clean up

to fairly large-scale projects:
• Shovel excavation & heavy-duty weeding
• New bed installation
• Shrub removal

I am looking for reliable assistants who will show up on time and follow directions.

What it takes to be successful in this role:
• Ability to read instructions completely and follow them
• Reliability to be in communication
• Passion for the outdoors, plants and dirt
• A desire to continue to learn about plants and gardening skills

This is not a typical "landscaping" company. It is a flower gardening company.

Landscape contractors and lawnmowers need not apply,

(unless you want to change fields!)

Our season is typically mid-March through Thanksgiving.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

  • Starting pay is $20/hr with opportunities for raises after a 90-day review and at the beginning of each new season

  • Paid sick leave

  • Mileage reimbursement logged between job sites

  • Cell phone usage reimbursement

  • Be physically fit to lift, stoop, kneel, get very dirty etc.

  • Have a valid driver’s license and a reliable, insured vehicle to transport tools.

  • Have a Smartphone with minutes, texting, and data. We communicate via texts and our app, which is also used to view schedules and to clock in and out.

  • Provide their own gloves, hand pruners, trowel or weeding tool (claw or hori-hori), and broom. All larger tools and supplies will be provided.

  • Have a passion for plants and flower gardening, some gardening experience, and a desire to continue to learn about plants and gardening skills.
